Troubleshooting Skin Prints and Air Bubbles in Resin 3D Printing

I’m encountering a frustrating issue with my recent resin prints: Skin Prints and air bubbles. My initial prints at 25 microns were excellent, boasting clean surfaces and fine details. However, my last two attempts have been plagued with problems.

The prints seem to develop a thin, outer “skin” layer that can be peeled off, revealing uncured resin beneath. This issue isn’t isolated. My latest print run, consisting of several 1/6 scale heads, suffered extensively. They exhibit trapped air bubbles, the same skin print problem, and even holes. Despite being hollowed out to allow air escape through the necks, these defects persist.

Here are images illustrating the skin print and air bubble issues. The circled areas highlight the skin formations and trapped air bubbles.

These problematic prints were made using my second resin cartridge, but with the same resin tank as before. Could the resin tank be the culprit? It does have a few small, non-transparent spots, though these are much smaller than the areas affected by the skin print issue and aren’t widespread across the tank window.

I’m unsure if I’ve made a mistake in my process. Any insights into why I’m getting these skin prints and air bubbles, and how to resolve them, would be greatly appreciated. I’m concerned about wasting more resin on unusable prints due to these issues.
