Your Guide to SFPL Printing Services: Convenient and Accessible

San Francisco Public Library (SFPL) provides extensive printing, copying, scanning, and faxing services across all its locations, making it easy for library cardholders and visitors to access these essential tools. Every SFPL cardholder is entitled to $2 of free printing or copying each day. This credit is automatically applied when you use your library card number to log in to library computers or when submitting mobile print jobs, making Sfpl Printing both affordable and accessible. Please note that print, copy, scan, and fax services are not available directly on SFPL Bookmobiles.

Printing, Copying, Scanning, and Faxing at the Library

Each SFPL branch is equipped with user-friendly stations for printing, copying, scanning, and faxing. You can send print jobs from any public computer within the library or even remotely from your own devices (see the “Print from Home / Mobile printing” section below).

For printing and copying beyond the initial $2 free credit, a small fee applies. Payment is simple and convenient, with options for credit and debit cards, as well as mobile payment systems like Apple Pay and Google Pay. Cash payments are also accepted using $1 and $5 bills, along with nickels, dimes, and quarters. It’s important to note that change is given after your prints or copies are completed.

Scanning to email, faxing within the United States, and saving scans to a USB drive are all offered free of charge. SFPL’s multifunction devices are designed for domestic faxing and cannot send faxes to international numbers.

For those needing to work with microfilm and microfiche, specialized readers and scanners are available at the Main Library, specifically within the Magazines and Newspapers Center. These machines allow you to save scanned images to a USB drive or send them via email. No appointments are needed, and library staff are always on hand to provide assistance if you require it.
