Setting up my new printer a few months ago felt like a breeze. Initially, I was quite pleased with how easily it integrated into my home office. Printing documents from the standard front cassette tray was straightforward, and for a while, everything ran smoothly. My positive first impressions started to shift when I decided to print a photo.
Wanting to use the rear tray for photo paper, I encountered my first hurdle. While the print quality was acceptable for a casual photo of my granddaughter, the sizing options were perplexing. The automatic cropping feature clipped off the bottom of the image in an undesirable way. I chalked it up to user error, figuring I needed to delve deeper into the printer settings, perhaps through a Printing App, to gain more control over photo sizes and layouts.
The real frustration struck when I attempted to revert to printing documents from the front tray. Suddenly, the printer refused to recognize there was paper loaded. Despite the paper being correctly placed and the settings supposedly on automatic tray selection, it simply wouldn’t print. I spent a frustrating half-hour cycling the power, rereading the printer manual, and even searching online for solutions. The manual offered no clear guidance on switching trays or troubleshooting paper detection issues. Could a dedicated printing app offer a more intuitive interface for tray selection and printer management?
Eventually, out of desperation, I tried initiating the print command from my iPad. To my surprise, it finally printed! However, it ignored my double-sided printing preference. It seemed like the printer was working again, but the whole experience left me feeling irritated and questioning the printer’s user-friendliness. It highlighted the potential need for a robust printing app that could simplify complex printer functions, like tray selection and double-sided printing, directly from my devices.
Despite these printing tray issues, I remain somewhat satisfied with this printer. The ability to use large refill ink bottles is a significant advantage, saving money and reducing the hassle of frequent cartridge replacements. For everyday home and home business printing, it performs adequately most of the time. However, these paper tray and setting frustrations underscore the importance of user-friendly printer software. Perhaps investing time in exploring a reliable printing app could unlock the full potential of this printer and smooth out these occasional printing headaches. For now, while the printer is mostly good, the search for a truly seamless printing experience continues, possibly starting with finding the right printing app.
