Printing & Copying: Step-by-Step Instructions
UC Davis library locations offer printing and copying services for a fee. You can easily Print Uc Davis documents from any library computer or wirelessly from your personal devices using the campus network.
Printing from Library Workstations
Follow these simple steps to print from library computers:

Initiate Print Job: Begin by visiting http://campusprinting.ucdavis.edu and clicking the prominent “PRINT” button.

Select Printer: Under “Printer Name,” choose your preferred printer:
- “Library Black and White” for standard black and white prints.
- “Library Color” for color prints.

Enter Document Information: Complete the form with the following details:
- Document: Click “Choose File” or “Browse” to upload your file for printing.
- Copies: Set the number of copies needed (default is 1, maximum is 10).
- Page Range: Specify the page range if you don’t need to print all pages (default is all pages).
- Student Kerberos ID: Enter your “Repro Graphics Card/ID#” (for Visitors, Staff, and Faculty) OR “Kerberos ID” (for Students).
Repro Graphics cards can be purchased at a Paystation located on the 1st floor of Shields Library.

Adjust Print Options: In “Page Settings,” verify and adjust “Paper” dimensions, “Duplex” (single or double-sided printing), and “Orientation” (portrait or landscape). Click “CONTINUE” to submit your print job.

Job Submission Confirmation: After processing, a “Complete” message with a green check mark will appear, confirming successful job submission. Note the “Job ID” number, which is essential for retrieving your print job. Close the browser window to finalize the printing process from the workstation.

- Click “Print”: Locate and click the “Print” button under the “Online Printing” section.
- Enter ID Number: Enter your Repro Graphics card ID number (or your student Kerberos ID or departmental copy card number) when prompted.
- Choose Library Printer: Select either the “Library Black & White” or “Library Color” printer option for printing within campus libraries.

- Upload Document and Set Options:
- To print a document from your device, browse to locate and select the file.
- To print a webpage, type in the URL.

- Review Print Options: Verify paper size, duplex settings, and orientation. Make any necessary adjustments.
- Submit Job: Click “Continue” to submit your print job.
- Job Approval and Cost Display: Once your job is processed and approved, the total cost will be displayed. Click “Submit Job to Printer.” Note the “Job ID number” for job retrieval.
- Print at Multifunction Printer: Go to any multifunction printer in the library and use your copy card to release and print your documents.
- Log Out: Click the “Log Out” button at the bottom of the screen to return to the Wireless Printing homepage if needed.
- Job Queue and Deletion: Note that print jobs are held in the queue overnight and will be automatically deleted the next day.
Advanced Windows Printing
For users who prefer printing directly from applications using the “File > Print” command on Windows, Advanced Windows Printing offers a solution. Install the Print Driver by following these instructions:
- Navigate to Campus Printing Website: Go to http://campusprinting.ucdavis.edu.
- Access Windows Print Driver Information: Click on the link “More about Windows print drivers” under the Advanced Windows Printing heading.
- Download Driver: Click the hyperlinked word “downloaded” to start the driver installation. Save the “PWhere.exe” file to your desktop for easy access.
- Install Print Driver: Double-click the “PWhere.exe” file to launch the installation wizard. Agree to the License Agreement to proceed.
- Launch Choose a Printer: Once installation is complete, “Choose a Printer 3.6” will appear on your desktop. Open this application.
- Search for UC Davis Printers: In the Keywords search box, type “ucdavis” and click “Search.” This will display a list of available printers for wireless printing.
- Select Library Printer: Choose “Library Black and White” or “Library Color” and click “OK” to connect.
- Confirm Printer Selection: You may be prompted to “Select” again to confirm your choice. Allow the program to make changes to your computer if asked.
- Print from Application: Open the document you want to print and go to “File > Print.”
- Select PrintWhere Printer: In the print dialog box, choose “PrintWhere 3.6” from the “Name” drop-down menu. If you have multiple printers, select the desired one in “Printer Properties.”

- Webpages Behind Login: For webpages requiring login, save the page as an HTML file on your computer and print the saved file.
- Emails and Attachments: Save email messages or attachments as files on your computer and then upload these files for printing using the “Browse” button.

Scanning Services
Self-service scanning is readily available at all UC Davis library locations for a small fee. To begin scanning, simply select your desired scanning option from the main menu of any multifunction device.
When using the scanning service, it’s important to note that the card reader may time out due to inactivity after a few minutes as it does not receive continuous feedback from the device. To prevent losing your work, users are advised to save or send their scans every two minutes.

Microform Reading and Scanning at Shields Library
For specialized research needs, Shields Library provides a dedicated microform reader located on the lower level in the Microforms Reading Room. This machine supports microfilm, microfiche, and microcard formats. A scanning workstation is also available, allowing users to convert microform documents into PDF format.
The microform reader is available on a first-come, first-served basis with a 2-hour time limit when others are waiting. UC Davis affiliates with an active @ucdavis.edu email address can place a reservation for the microform reader up to two weeks in advance for extensive projects.

Methods of Payment for Library Services
UC Davis libraries offer two primary payment methods for printing, copying, and scanning services, ensuring flexibility for all users.

Student ID Card Payment
Students can conveniently use their Student ID cards to pay for print, copy, and scan services. Usage is tracked throughout each term, and student accounts are billed at the end of the term. A minimum charge of $5.00 per billing cycle applies. If your actual usage is less than $5.00, the remaining balance will be carried over as a credit to the next billing period.

Repro Graphics Card Payment
Repro Graphics cards are available for purchase from vending machines located at:
- Shields Library: First Level, to the left of the main entrance, near the New Books section.
- Blaisdell Medical Library: Near the multifunction devices, adjacent to the stacks.
These vending machines accept cash only; credit cards and coins are not accepted, and change is not given. The initial purchase includes a $0.50 deduction for the card itself. Cards are dispensed with an initial value of $0.50. Carefully follow the instructions on the vending machine to ensure any additional amount paid is correctly credited to your copy card.

Additional value can be added to Repro Graphics cards at any of the vending machines that dispense these cards. Always follow the on-screen instructions provided on the vending machines.
Lost or Damaged Cards
For lost or damaged Student ID cards, replacements must be obtained at the AggieCard Office, located in 253 Memorial Union.
