Paper and Supplies

Understanding Paper Inclusion in Panther Printing

Good news! Standard 20 lb. white and pastel 8.5×11” copy paper is included as part of the Panther Printing program. To order this included paper, simply visit the request included copy paper form.

Need specialty paper that isn’t included in the program? You can easily order custom paper through the purchase custom paper form.

For paper included in the program, expect delivery within 3-5 business days. Specialty paper orders and deliveries to Hillsboro, Newberg, and OMIC locations may take between 5 – 10 business days, depending on paper stock and specific delivery logistics to your site.

Ordering and Receiving Printer Supplies

Printers enrolled in the Panther Printing program are equipped with a sticker that contains a printer-specific serial number and ID number. This information is crucial when you need to request supplies.

To order toner or other necessary supplies, locate the sticker on your copier and email Ed Phillips directly at [email protected] with the identifying information.

For departments managing multiple devices, identifying the correct device for supply shipments is simple. Just match the asset name on the shipment label with the sticker on your corresponding printer. This ensures that supplies are correctly routed to the right printer every time.

Recycling and Sustainability

How to Recycle Used Printer Supplies

As part of PCC’s commitment to sustainability, recycling empty toner and ink cartridges, as well as waste bins, is essential. Please store your used cartridges in a safe and accessible location. To arrange for a recycling pickup, contact Ed Phillips at [email protected].

For those on the Sylvania campus, a convenient drop box is located just outside the Print Center. At other PCC Centers, recycling boxes are available at the front desk for easy disposal of your used printer supplies.

Program Overview and Benefits

Why PCC Implemented the Panther Print Program

The Panther Printing Program was strategically implemented by PCC to gain better oversight and management of printing processes and related expenditures. This program is designed to ultimately lead to time and cost savings through several key improvements: automating supply orders, enhancing printing security measures, and promoting greater sustainability across the college.

By consolidating services with a single vendor, PCC can more accurately forecast costs for printing, maintenance, and supplies. This also frees up valuable IT department resources, allowing them to concentrate on broader strategic objectives for PCC.

CTX, as the current manager of all leased and purchased printing devices throughout the district, plays a crucial role in this program. Working with a single service provider like CTX enables PCC to negotiate favorable rates for both services and supplies. Furthermore, it provides the necessary reporting and data analytics to align with and support PCC’s overarching strategic goals.

Mandatory Participation in Panther Printing

Yes, participation in the Panther Printing Program is mandatory across all PCC divisions. The PCC Cabinet and Board of Directors have identified this program as a significant cost-saving initiative for the college. These savings are vital and can contribute to preventing future employee layoffs and tuition increases. The only exception to this mandatory program is for members already enrolled in the Xerox Fleet Program.

It’s important to note that while the Panther Printing program is projected to save the college substantial funds overall, individual departments might not see immediate cost reductions. However, departments can take proactive steps to manage and potentially decrease their printing costs by adopting energy-saving printing practices. You can find helpful tips in the energy-saving tips for printing document.

Panther Print vs. Xerox Fleet Program: Key Differences

While the Panther Print and Xerox Fleet Programs share similarities, offering comparable services and network connectivity for devices, there are key distinctions:

Xerox Fleet Program members lease or purchase Xerox multifunctional devices directly through the Print Center. They pay a monthly lease fee or purchase price which covers the machine, all technical services, supplies, training, accounting via Copier ID, and standard white/pastel 8.5×11” copy paper.

Panther Print Program members continue using their existing printers but operate under a “per-click” payment model. This means they are charged based on the number of printed pages. This per-click cost includes all machine technical services, supplies, and the same standard white/pastel 8.5×11” copy paper.

Program Scope

Specialty Printers and Panther Printing

Currently, the Panther Printing program does not extend to specialty printers such as plotters, 3D printers, and CAD printers. The program is focused on managing standard printing and copying devices across PCC.

By understanding the details of the Panther Printing program, PCC faculty and staff can effectively utilize the resources available, ensure efficient printing operations, and contribute to the college’s sustainability and cost-saving goals.
