Canon MegaTank Printer Warranty: What You Need to Know

Understanding the warranty for your Canon Megatank Printer is crucial for peace of mind and ensuring support when you need it. Canon U.S.A., Inc. provides a limited warranty for its G-Series MegaTank inkjet printers purchased and used within the United States. This warranty protects your investment and outlines the terms of service should you encounter any issues.

Coverage and Duration

Your new or refurbished Canon-brand G-Series MegaTank printer (“Product”) is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date. Alternatively, the warranty lasts until you reach 30,000 printed pages, whichever comes first. This limited warranty demonstrates Canon’s commitment to quality and the longevity of its MegaTank printers.

During this warranty period, if your MegaTank printer is returned to a Canon USA repair facility or a Canon USA Authorized Service Facility (ASF) and is found to be defective upon inspection, Canon will take one of the following actions at their discretion:

  • Repair: Utilize new, remanufactured, repaired, and/or recycled parts to fix the defect.
  • Exchange for New Product: Replace your defective printer with a brand new MegaTank printer.
  • Exchange for Refurbished Product: Exchange your defective printer for a thoroughly inspected and tested refurbished MegaTank printer.

It’s important to note that any warranty repair or replacement does not extend the original warranty period. To receive warranty service, you will need to provide dated proof of purchase, such as a copy of your dated bill of sale. This warranty specifically covers the MegaTank printer itself and does not include accessories or consumables like paper or ink bottles.

Compatibility and Exclusions

This warranty is applicable only if your Canon MegaTank printer is used with compatible computers, peripheral equipment, and software. Canon USA is responsible for its own branded peripheral equipment under separate warranties but holds no responsibility for non-Canon brand items, which are sold “as is” without any Canon USA warranty. Any warranty for non-Canon brand equipment or software is provided by their respective manufacturers.

The limited warranty covers defects encountered during normal use. However, it does not apply in certain situations, including:

  1. Damage due to misuse or external factors: This includes damage resulting from abuse, neglect, mishandling, improper packaging, alteration, accidents, electrical fluctuations, improper use, failure to follow operating instructions, or environmental conditions not recommended in the user manual. Physical damage like dropping the printer, scratches, and abrasions are generally presumed to be caused by misuse.
  2. Damage from non-Canon parts or supplies: Using parts, media, software, or supplies not sold by Canon USA, including non-Canon ink bottles or refilled ink bottles, can void your warranty if they cause damage or lead to frequent service issues. Using genuine Canon MegaTank ink is recommended to maintain printer performance and warranty validity.
  3. Altered or removed serial number: The warranty is void if the printer’s serial number or dating has been defaced, altered, or removed.

Furthermore, any system software or utility software provided with the MegaTank printer is sold “as is” without warranty from Canon USA. Software warranties, if any, are detailed in the software manufacturer’s license agreement.

Disclaimer of Implied Warranties and Liabilities

After the express limited warranty period, no implied warranty, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, applies to the Canon MegaTank printer. Canon USA is not liable for any indirect damages, including loss of revenue or profits, inconvenience, expenses for substitute equipment, storage charges, data loss, or any other special, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the printer. This limitation applies regardless of the legal basis of the claim and even if Canon USA has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no case will Canon USA’s liability exceed the original purchase price of the MegaTank printer.

You assume all risks and liabilities for loss, damage, or injury to yourself and your property, as well as to others and their property, resulting from the possession, use, or misuse of the MegaTank printer, unless directly caused by the negligence of Canon USA.

This warranty is exclusively for the original purchaser or the gift recipient and represents your sole remedy.

Once you receive the replacement, follow the instructions to return your original printer in the provided packaging, including the reference number, a copy of your purchase receipt, and a description of the problem. Important: Do not return the printhead with your printer.

By using InstantExchange, you agree to keep the replacement printer, and your original printer becomes the property of Canon USA. This service is available only during the limited warranty period and within the 50 United States and District of Columbia.
