Print IU: Your Guide to Library Printing & Scanning

Printing from Public Workstations

To print from public workstations at IU libraries, follow these simple steps after sending your document to print:

  1. When the printer window appears, you’ll see a choice of print queues.
    • Black and White (Default): This standard option is set as the default and costs just $0.04 per page side.
    • Color: Select this for color prints, priced at $0.25 per page side for vibrant documents.
  2. After selecting your preferences and clicking “OK”, head to any print release station within the library.
  3. Swipe your CrimsonCard at the print release station to access your print queue.
  4. A screen will display your pending print job(s). Here, you can choose to proceed with printing or cancel unwanted jobs. Remember, unprinted and uncancelled documents remain in the system for 24 hours before automatic deletion.
  5. The screen clearly indicates the number of pages for each print job, allowing you to manage your printing efficiently.

Printing from Your Devices

For printing directly from your personal devices, IU libraries offer convenient RICOH printers located on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. Simply log in with your IU username and passphrase at these printers to securely release your documents. This method provides a seamless printing experience without needing a public workstation.

Scanning Services

IU Libraries also provide free scanning services. Publicly accessible scanners are available on the 2nd and 4th floors, perfect for digitizing documents or images. If you are a guest user without IU affiliation, you might need to obtain a Guest Computer Account from the Information/Service Desk on the 2nd floor. More details for guest access can be found in our information for guest users.

For specialized scanning needs, the University Library houses a Scanpro Microform Scanner, with instructions available here. Additionally, the Center for Digital Scholarship offers advanced digitization services for scholarly projects.
