Baruch Printing Services: Your Guide to Library Printing and Scanning

Navigating printing and scanning at Baruch College Library is straightforward once you know the essentials. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of the printing services available, ensuring you can easily access the resources you need for your academic work and research. Whether you’re a Baruch student, faculty member, or a guest user, understanding the printing options and associated fees is key to efficient library use.

Printing Solutions at Baruch Library

Baruch Printing is readily accessible throughout the library, primarily for academic and research purposes. For printing from your laptops, tablets, and phones, the library provides seamless connectivity to its printing network. This allows you to send documents for printing from virtually anywhere within the library premises.

Scanning Services

In addition to printing, the library offers convenient scanning services. Scanners are located on the 2nd floor, behind the reference desk and near the restrooms, making them easily accessible. These scanners are equipped with versatile scan-to options, including scan to email, scan to USB device, and scan to printer, catering to various user needs.

Understanding Printing Fees and Account Management

Using the scanners is complimentary, with a time limit of 15 minutes to ensure availability for all users. For Baruch students, printing is integrated with your semester printing allocation. You can utilize your allocated print quota for library printing. Once your initial allocation is depleted, you can easily add value to your printing account using the kiosk located near the reference desk. Please note that the kiosk accepts cash payments only.

For library users who are not Baruch students, several options are available. Baruch faculty are encouraged to use departmental printers or can obtain a guest printing account at the kiosk. Other users can acquire a guest Wi-Fi account at the reference desk and subsequently set up a guest printing account at the kiosk.

It’s important to be aware of the costs associated with printing: black and white prints are priced at $0.20 per page, while color prints are $1.00 per page. Guest printing accounts are valid until the last day of each semester, with the expiration date printed on the receipt from the kiosk. Unused balances on these accounts are non-refundable.

Copyright Compliance and Sustainable Practices

When using Baruch printing and scanning services, it’s crucial to comply with copyright law. As per United States Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S. Code), individuals are responsible for any copyright infringement when reproducing copyrighted materials using library equipment. For detailed information on copyright compliance, please refer to the CUNY Office of Library Service’s page on Fair Use and Copyright.

Baruch Library is also committed to sustainability and encourages patrons to minimize printing to support Baruch College’s broader Sustainability initiative. Consider whether printing is necessary and explore digital alternatives whenever possible.

This guide aims to clarify the Baruch printing and scanning services available at the library, helping you make the most of these resources while adhering to library policies and promoting responsible usage.
