Google Cloud Print once offered a seamless solution for printing from various devices to your Epson printer. While Google Cloud Print is no longer supported by Google since December 31, 2020, understanding its setup process can still be helpful if you are exploring alternative cloud printing solutions or have legacy systems. This guide will walk you through the steps to register your Epson printer with Google Cloud Print, enabling you to print from your smartphone, tablet, Chromebook, or any computer with internet access.
Before you begin, ensure that your Epson printer is set up for network printing and connected to the same network as the device you are using for setup.
Setting Up Google Cloud Print on Your Epson Printer
Follow these straightforward steps to connect your Epson printer to Google Cloud Print.
1. Network Connection Verification
First and foremost, confirm that your Epson printer is connected to your network. This is crucial for Google Cloud Print to function correctly. Ensure both your printer and your computer or mobile device are on the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Print a Network Status Sheet
To proceed with the Google Cloud Print setup, you’ll need your printer’s IP address. You can obtain this by printing a network status sheet directly from your Epson printer. The method to print this sheet varies depending on your Epson printer model, so consult your printer’s manual for specific instructions on how to print a network status sheet.
3. Locate Your Printer’s IP Address
Once you have printed the network status sheet, examine it to find your printer’s IP address. This address is typically labeled clearly on the sheet. Note down this IP address as you will need it for the next step.
4. Access Your Printer’s Web Interface
Open a web browser on your computer and type the IP address you noted down in the address bar. Press Enter. This should take you to the web interface of your Epson printer, allowing you to configure its settings.
5. Navigate to Google Cloud Print Services
Within your printer’s web interface, look for the Google Cloud Print Services option. This is usually found under the network settings or web services section.
Note: If you do not see the Google Cloud Print Services option, try turning your Epson printer off and then on again. If it still doesn’t appear, your printer’s firmware might be outdated. In this case, look for a Firmware Update option, usually located in the settings or maintenance section of the web interface, and follow the on-screen instructions to update your printer’s firmware. After updating, check again for the Google Cloud Print Services option.
6. Register Your Printer
Click on the Register button or link associated with Google Cloud Print Services.
7. Accept the Usage Advisory
You will be presented with a Usage Advisory or terms of service. Carefully read through it, and if you agree, select the checkbox to confirm your agreement. Then, click Next to proceed.
8. Launch the Google Sign-In Page
Click OK to launch the Google sign-in page. A new browser window or tab will open, redirecting you to Google’s sign-in page.
9. Sign In to Your Google Account
Enter your Google Account username (email address) and password in the provided fields. If you don’t have a Google Account, click on Sign up for a new Google Account and follow the steps to create one. Once you have entered your credentials, click Sign in.
10. Complete Printer Registration
After successfully signing in to your Google Account, you will be redirected back to your printer’s web interface. Click Finish printer registration to finalize the setup process. Your Epson printer will now be linked to your Google Account. Often, the printer will automatically print a test page to confirm the successful registration.
Printing with Google Cloud Print
Once your Epson printer is registered with Google Cloud Print, you can print from any device – Chromebook, computer, Apple or Android device – that is connected to the internet and logged into the same Google Account. Simply select “Print” from your application, and your Epson printer should appear as an available printer option.
Important Note: Google Cloud Print service has been discontinued by Google. While these steps might have been relevant in the past, consider exploring current cloud printing solutions or Epson’s Connect services for modern printing needs. This guide is for informational purposes for users who might be referencing older documentation or systems.
