The Anthropology Department at Texas State University offers poster printing services to support faculty and students in their academic and research endeavors. Understanding the guidelines and procedures ensures a smooth printing process for your posters. This document outlines the department’s poster printing policy, priorities, and procedures to help you prepare and submit your print requests effectively.
Anthropology Poster Printing Policy
To manage resources effectively, the department has established a printing policy. Due to budget limitations and the cost per poster, currently estimated at a minimum of $20, there is an annual limit on the number of posters that can be printed.
Printing Priority
The following priorities determine the allocation of poster printing services:
- Conference Posters: Each faculty member and student (both undergraduate and graduate) is entitled to one conference poster print per academic year. Requests for additional posters are subject to approval from the department chair and will depend on the availability of departmental funds.
- Student Research Conference: The department is committed to supporting student research and will print posters for all participants in the department’s student research conference, even if a student has already had a poster printed for another conference within the academic year.
- Promotional and Departmental Posters: Posters for promotional events and department billboards require prior authorization from the department chair.
- Course-Related Posters: Printing posters for classes also necessitates permission from the department chair.
Printing Procedures
To ensure efficient processing and quality prints, please adhere to the following procedures when submitting your poster printing requests:
- Poster Formatting is Mandatory: Requestors are solely responsible for formatting their posters to the exact desired dimensions before submission. The department office does not provide poster formatting services. Please note that the maximum poster height is 44 inches. Acceptable file formats for submission are PowerPoint (PPT/PPTX) or PDF.
- Submit a Print Request Form: A print request form must be submitted at least one week in advance of your required pickup date. During peak periods, especially leading up to major conferences, please submit your requests two weeks in advance to ensure timely processing.
- Proof Approval is Required: Before printing the final poster, a proof copy will be printed on 8 ½ x 11 or legal-size paper. This proof must be approved by the faculty member who initiated the request. If the request is from a graduate or undergraduate student, the proof must be approved by both the student and their faculty advisor. Proof approval is required within two working days.
- Poster Pickup Notification: Once the proof is approved and the poster is printed, the requester will be notified to pick up the poster from the department office. Posters can be collected during regular office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Printing During Business Hours: Poster printing services are exclusively available during regular university business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Printing services are unavailable during university holidays and energy conservation days.
By following these guidelines, you can effectively utilize the Texas State Printing services offered by the Anthropology Department for your poster printing needs. Remember to plan ahead and submit your requests with sufficient lead time, especially during busy periods.
